Asics GEL 2130

GEL 2130 Men                                           GEL 2130 Women

This update boasts a redesigned upper that improves the shoe's overall fit.  The eye row, where the laces run through the upper, has been shifted back from the forefoot to provide more toe room and reduce the chance of irritation where the shoe flexes.  An additional section of foam in the collar helps hold the shoe snugly around the ankle.  The cushioning has also been improved by using a new formulation of foam in the midsole and softer runner in the forefoot outsole.  The footbridge is thicker, which provides better support.

Asics  Kayano 14

Kayano 14 Men                                       Kayano 14 Women

The GEL unit in the Kayano 14 is 25 percent larger than the one found in the Kayano 13.  The 14 is slightly firmer than its predecessor because of a plastic plate, which sits on top of the GEL unit and prevents the heel from feeling too mushy.  The midsole is made of new, lightweight foam that's designed to bounce back more quickly.  Recommended for runners who need a stable, well cushioned shoe.

Asics DS Trainer 13

DS Trainer 13 Men                                   DS Trainer 13 Women

The forefoot overlays have been removed on this update, so there's less chance for chafing and irritation.  This helps give the toebox a bit more room.  Runners who felt the DS Trainer 12 was too snug should take a look at the 13.  The laces are off center, following the actual topline of the foot for a more natural feel.  Another bonus is the $10.00 drop in price.  Recommenced for biomechanically efficient runners or as a racing shoe for runners who train in a stability shoe.

Brooks Adrenaline 8

Adrenaline 8 Men                                 Adrenaline 8 Women

The midsole and outsole of the latest Adrenaline are more segmented under the heel, which helps isolate and disperse impact.  Tests show that this feature has improved the shoe's cushioning.  Brooks has also brought back the rounded heel outsole design that many runners liked on the Adrenaline 6, so the heel rolls onto the ground more smoothly.  Recommended for runners with low to normal arches seeking a soft, durable trainer.

Saucony Progrid Hurricane 10

Hurricane 10 Men                              Hurricane 10 Women

Saucony has improved the Hurricane's soft cushioning with more independent outsole segments under the heel to better isolate impact force.  Flex grooves under the forefoot are deeper to improve the shoe's pliability, and make it slightly more flexible than the Hurricane 9.  Saucony has also softened the arch wrap material for a better fit.  Recommended for runners looking for a soft daily training shoe.

Mizuno Wave Rider 11

Wave Rider 11 Men                                Wave Rider 11 Women

The Rider has the same new heel design as the Inspire 4.  A stretchy panel in the rearfoot makes the upper less likely to lose its shape at foot strike, which improves the shoe's heel fit.  Deep forefoot flex grooves make for a very flexible shoe, and a new sockliner that's dimpled under the heel and forefoot yields a softer feel underfoot.  Recommended for runners with high arches seeking a lightweight and flexible shoe.

Mizuno Wave Inspire 4

Wave Inspire 4 Men                                Wave Inspire 4 Women

The latest Inspire uses a new upper design to better wrap the heel.  Mizuno added a strip of stretchy fabric to the upper in front of the heel counter which helps isolate the ankle's outward motion and provides a snugger fit.  Recommended for runners with normal to low arches willing to try a new way to combat heel slippage.

New Balance 1062

                         1062 Men                                            1062 Women

New Balance overhauled the sole of the 1062 to make it more supportive than its predecessor.  The transition bridge is now thicker, and the heel is segmented into three independent pods to better isolate impact forces and promote a smoother transition from heel strike to toe-off.  A stiffer shoe recommended for bigger runners with normal to high arches who want good cushioning with a bit of added support.

Nike Vomero+ 3

                    Vomero+ 3 Men                                      Vomero+ 3 Women

Ready for the ultimate ride?  The Air Zoom Vomero+ 3 boasts ultra cushioning and comfort, perfect fit, and the smoothest transition.  An external molded heel counter provides the proper alignment for an unsurpassed fit.  A highly coupled crash pad in the midsole gives a natural landing and great impact absorption.  The outsole features Duralon in the forefoot and BRS 1000 in the heel for the ultimate fit, feel and durability.

Asics Nimbus 10

Nimbus 10 Men                                       Nimbus 10 Women

The resilient ride of the latest Nimbus gives it a bounce that helps in the final miles of a long run.  The shoe's new midsole foam springs back faster.  Asics also sought to improve the overall feel by adding a soft, snug-fitting ankle collar and shifting the laces to better follow the natural topline of the foot.
